I don't suck at updating, really. Okay, maybe I do. But I've actually been able to write these past few days, so that is shiny and awesome, especially if it continues. I'd really like to start working on my novel again, but I don't really feel like I'm able to do that until we've settled down somewhere, finally. But we're getting our apartment on the 5th, so yay!

Until then, I'll just try and finish that one Torchwood story of doom. As long as I finish it before a year has passed since I posted the first chapter... Yeah.

Jaqui got a new TV that works, and Evie is playing Devil May Cry. It's adorable when she plays games. She squeaks. Evie and I are still looking for a DVD player that plays data DVDs. It's annoying.

I'm thinking about a new layout for this journal. And for [livejournal.com profile] find_rightbrain. I just... need to decide what I want to do with both of them. I'm leaning toward things in black and white and gray, I just have to find layouts that fit that. Bah.

Regarding the Eleventh Doctor casting, I am pleased. I am very pleased. All of the names people had been throwing around never got more than an "eh" reaction out of me, and a few of them I badly did not want, but guy completely out of left field? I am ALL FOR THAT.

And the fact that he's young... honestly doesn't bother me in the least. Sure, he looks ickle in the interview, but I love the promo picture, and it matches the image of the Doctor River Song talked about in FotD/SitL. And never mind what River said to Ten about how he looks so young - physical age so isn't the point. A couple weeks ago, I went back and watched some Nine episodes for the first time after months of just watching Ten, and my first reaction was "Oh God, he looks so young." It's all in the acting, and we won't get to see that for a year. So I'm willing to withhold judgment.

That said, I am looking forward to the next series so much more than I was before. (And if Eleven spends his first episode in Ten's clothes, I will cry. So many tears.)

And very quickly, some comm pimping for the new year. Okay, so they're not new comms, but they're comms I think deserve so much more attention, because I love them.

[livejournal.com profile] itsproductivity is a writing prompt comm that runs in January, April, July and October. If you're looking for something to get you writing small things this month, you should totally check it out. It's open to fandom and original writing, and I love the prompts there.

[livejournal.com profile] whoniverse1000 is a Whoniverse community in which the goal is getting 1000 fics written, each with a different pairing. Crossover and historical characters are allowed. We're 1/5 of the way there already, and I would so love to see it reach the goal. So if you write in the Whoniverse, maybe consider popping over there and writing a pairing or two? It's shiiiny.

Yeah, the young-looking immortal thing is a huge kink of mine, AS I'M SURE YOU KNOW, so it doesn't bother me in the least. And Davison took the role at 29, so... um... not that much of a difference, guys. Buuut the people who're freaking out either haven't thought of that or don't care. And he'll be a year older when S5 actually starts. Now I just really want to know who his companion(s) is(/are), because the dynamics could be SO AWESOME.

Heee. Chriswriting in [livejournal.com profile] itsproductivity always makes me happy. Chriswriting in general makes me happy.

Hee! Yes, young-looking immortals are AWESOME. I'm just hoping he can pull off the Ancient and Forever stuff and have it not be... Inappropriately cute. Because it would suck if he went off some big AaF tangent and then... Looked like a tiger cub trying to be threatening and only coming off as adorable. ...Yes, that's one of my primary concerns. The tineh interfering with his intimidation factor. IT'S A VALID CONCERN.

YES. I'm very excited for his companions! ....And is it sad that I really hope they don't bring Martha back for him even if it's just an episode (like SJ). I don't know... On one hand, someone NOT RUSTY might actually be able to handle her, but the whole 'verse has been horrible to her and I don't think I could deal with her and a Doctor who isn't Ten. It would... Bother me a lot. That... Made more sense in my head. Bah.

Hee! ♥

*Giggles* On the one hand, that would be adorable. On the other hand, I'm too attached to my Ancient and Forever Doctor, and I so want him to be able to manage it. But Stephen seems to like AoF Doctor (see: ANYTHING RIVER SONG SAYS ABOUT HER DOCTOR EVER), so. Y'know. I have confidence.

And I know what you mean. I'd love to see more of Martha, but A) every time she comes back, I'm just so terrified they're going to do something more to her, and B) Martha is very much a companion of Ten's. They fit together, even despite the issues, and I'm just not sure a different Doctor would click with her as well.

(But then, I'm of the opinion that the problem with Ten and Martha aren't that they are who they are, it's that Martha said she wasn't interested and the Doctor believed her, and that... in that situation, it's really not good for there to be just one companion on the TARDIS. If S3 had had two companions instead of just Martha, I think both Martha and the Doctor would've had a lot more perspective on things and the relationship between them wouldn't have been so horribly painful half the time. But that's just me.)

On the plus side, I never would have guessed seeing Tennant for the very first time that he'd be able to do AaF as well as he does (which is why the ending of TCI gives me a jolt), so there's a good chance Matt'll surprise us!

Yeah, exactly! *scritchMartha*

(YES. I agree with this! And dear God, I hope we get more Companions on the TARDIS with Eleven.)

Do you know where I can find the Christmas special online? The BBC claims to have it posted but it won't work for me.
