Oh, Torchwood novels. How is it you can simultaneously amuse and piss me off? Setting aside the questionable characterization of Jack and Gwen in this book (I get the feeling the author is not a Gwen fan, though still better than what you get in a lot of fanfic)...

I can't decide if this is an issue of bad research or just bad phrasing, but when the author talks about "Owen's area", I have no idea what they mean. Owen's desk? The autopsy room? I'm guessing the autopsy room, given the phrasing of Jack going down there, but it's still very unclear, and neither of those areas has a mirror (at least not one that I can see, ever).

It's possible I'm just a little more growly about this than usual because I spent a few hours earlier working out the layout of the Hub yet again, but damn it, a writer who is getting paid to do this could at least put in as much effort as those of us who aren't. (If I'm lucky, when/if we get a S4 of Torchwood, they will give me a Hub or other home base that is much less baffling. Not that I don't love the Hub, but... I don't know. When I try to make it all work out in my head, it's like one of those optical illusions of structures that can't possibly exist. Goddamn it, Torchwood.)

Unrelated note to self: see about acquiring peppermint schnapps. A nice big bottle, preferably, with an extremely high alcohol content, for use as a muscle relaxant. It's much less annoying and unpleasant than trying to use vodka for the same purpose.

This is what happens when I can't sleep, you guys. Especially when I don't have Twitter to spam. I apologize.

Okay, technically there's nothing wrong with it. I just hate using the actual Twitter WEBSITE, and I don't want to install a Twitter client on SJ.

Ooooooh.

Not even an addo-- no, it's a writing computer.

...actually, case in point, wtf am I doing installing Trillian on there? Take that off.

Remind me to come cling to you through the internet when I have to start mapping out the APO layout for my BigBang. I've been avoiding doing that forever. >___<

Fucking headquarters. Have simpler layouts.

*Scritchlove* Seriously. I would love to build a model of the Hub, which is the only way I'd ever manage to make it make sense to me, but... I'm bad with building things.

ON A COMPLETELY UNRELATED NOTE, I found the most adorable Des/Doctor song for the mix. It's in GERMAN, so I had to find a YouTube video with translated subtitles and transcribe it, but I don't care. It is so damn cute that even if I can't understand it, just knowing what it means makes me GLEE.

:< Clearly you must find someone who can, because that would be awesome. I can't even do that with APO, because

A. It's all one floor, which wouldn't be a problem if not for:

B. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW BIG IT ACTUALLY IS. It's built into a subway tunnel, so it could be as big as a typical office building floor or as big as ALL OF WESTERN LA.

(It is probably not as big as western LA.)

THAT IS SO ADORABLE. XD And random. I have never heard of adorable German songs and most German singers I've heard are made of TERRIFYING.

...well. That's weird. But par for the course for Alias' set designers. WTF, you guys.

IT IS. I was not sure German singers could be adorable, but OMG. I can email you the transcribed lyrics if you want.

It's true. It occurred to me that if I tried to map out the Rotunda, I would probably also die. THE ONLY ONE I COULD MAP OUT IS THE SD-6 OFFICE AND THAT'S ONLY BECAUSE IT HAS AN UNCOMFORTABLE AMOUNT OF SCREENTIME IN THE BOX.

XDD OKAY! I want to seeee the adorable.

Oh, I know I've screwed up the Hub's layout in a story or two. And I've put a sofa where there isn't one. Hey, you know, it was necessary for the... stuff.

The TARDIS is great, since you can make up however many magical rooms you like!

I will admit that I'm annoyingly obsessive about the Hub's layout. So every so often, I'll just spend an hour or two staring at screencaps and making notes to myself and hoping MAYBE THIS TIME I will remember how it all fits together. ...and I never do.

The TARDIS is awesome, though. I keep hoping at some point we will get an episode that happens entirely on the TARDIS, just so we can see more of the rooms. I mean, I figure the TARDIS is probably the size of a small planet inside, and only a very small area ever really gets used, but having some idea what's going on in there outside of the console room and the wardrobe would make me so happy.
