Hey, guys. No idea if I'm actually going to write this story, because I'm having trouble getting my brain to wrap around it and I'm not sure I can face watching that episode again before the final episode airs to (hopefully) make it all better, but...
Anyone have an idea of the timeline between "Exit Wounds" and "The Stolen Earth"? Slightest clue of how much time has passed? Wild, flailing, shot in the dark guess?
The Wikipedia timeline is officially useless, but then again, it's been full of crazy since Last of the Time Lords aired, so... yeah. I'm still trying to figure out the timeline between "End of Days" and the first scene of "Utopia", though I did come to an arbitrary decision a while ago for the sake of Rift canon... Still.
EDIT: Also, completely... alright, mostly unrelated to the above, I'm getting really tired of the big epic disasters on a planetwide scale. It's really not doing anything for me.
You know what season finale "big disaster" hit me hardest? The bombs going off in Cardiff in "Exit Wounds". Which is tiny compared to Daleks destroying the Earth, Daleks and Cybermen in Canary Wharf, the Toclaphane decimating humanity, Daleks destroying the Earth again. But the look on the team's faces, especially Gwen's... I started crying. Because it was real.
In "The Stolen Earth"? It just seems like they're throwing special effects at the screen. Even watching the Daleks destroy Manhattan I was just like "...So what?" Can we scale down, just a little? I don't need "the Earth and the entire universe in danger!!!" to get me invested. I need "these people I care about in danger". The things they care about, the people they love. And then, you know, maybe the Earth in danger as background.
I know they're all invested in saving the universe and stopping the Daleks and all, and they're the people who can do that, but... I don't know. The scale of everything is just too big for me to care anymore. And it bothers me. A lot.
...Why yes, I am doing this rather than writing my
writerinadrawer fic. Shut up, I'm going now. Honestly.
