Yeah, so when I woke up today, Evie was watching "Exit Wounds". I'm actually amazed I managed to process that so quickly after waking up, but I wandered out of our bedroom, blinked at what was on the laptop screen for a second, and then went "Why would you DO that?"

And then I had to go and watch it after she left for work.

You know what needs to NOT happen? "Proud of Your Boy" needs to not pop into my head when I'm watching one of the last scenes, where Jack's putting Owen's stuff away. Because it then becomes an Owen song and OW. Again. My soul. I was using that.

And yeah, I may have started a vid for it to "Blue Light of the Flame", before I got all spazzy and had to stop. *Sighs* And now I'm all full of break and keep randomly crying at... like... nothing. Damn you, Torchwood. I'm full of so much break now. (Not that it's not my own fault, but I had to rewatch it some time...)

I'm going to try and fix this by going and playing with a VERY ALIVE Tosh in [livejournal.com profile] beyondtherift now. Oh, and Gwen and John. 'Cause they're loud too now.

When Evie and I first got the puppy, we were pretty sure she was going to be a smallish/medium-sized dog. Smallish/medium-sized for us, which... Evie grew up with mastiffs, I grew up with some pretty large golden retrievers, so anything under a hundred and twenty pounds or so is a medium dog, anything under eighty pounds is small.

Ace's mother was a shepherd mix, light gold, came up to a little above our knees. And when Ace was littler, we were thinking her father might be a lab or lab mix - they're common enough, and as far as we could tell at the time, the mix would fit her, and one of Evie's managers has a shepherd/lab mix who looked just like Ace when she was a puppy.

The thing is, now that she's getting bigger, we're not so much thinking that. She is growing fast, and she's got these really long legs. Her tail's much too thin for a lab tail, or even a shepherd tail, her head and body is all the wrong shape, and a lab would not explain her coloring (tan - not gold like a yellow lab or her mother, but light brown/tan - with a black mask). Long legs, ears that mostly stand up (one of them is definitely going to stand up the rest of the way, the other one might not make it, which is both adorable and ridiculous), pretty deep muzzle, deep barrel chest...

You know what breed does fit her at the moment, when we keep in mind what she would have gotten from her mother? A Great fucking Dane. *Facepalm* Not that we're certain or anything, but it's starting to look very possible. And it is starting to look like whatever she's a mix of, she's going to be bigger than we initially thought.

Ace, you're scaring the hell out of your mommies. Please don't get huge, or we won't be able to feed you. ...Well, no. We'll still feed you. We won't be able to feed ourselves.

[livejournal.com profile] dreamsofstars: - oh crap, I have been attacked by a Time Mage in my game.
me: Oh dear.
[livejournal.com profile] dreamsofstars: I got rid of him. (And may have said 'Regenerate that, bitch.')
