My second cry for help in two days. Sorry about that.
Does anyone know of a website or LJ post or anything on which the Hub layout is illustrated or explained or anything? For some reason, I haven't been able to find any such thing anywhere on the internet, and it's driving me crazy. Surely such a thing must exist. Because the Hub layout is weirdly complicated and short of a tiny, scale model of the Hub, some sort of illustration would be helpful!
And if such a thing doesn't exist... come ON, Torchwood fandom, what's wrong with you? Get on that shit!
Also, dear self: remember how this is a gen fic? YOU REMEMBER THAT? ...Well, okay, I'll forgive you, because Jack/Everyone is canon, but STILL.
EDIT: Oh, yeah, today's going to be fun. Agh. I like this story. It's just hell to get it down. My brain doesn't want to focus. I have... four hours. Or five. 2 PM CDT. That's 3 PM EST? Goddamn time zones...
EDIT II: Success! Complete with illustrative screencaps! See, I knew Torchwood fandom would come through.
toki_usagi also found me this, which is also helpful. Big shots from above for perspective, yay!
It's the multiple levels that screw me up, really. I can deal with the work area - Jack's desk, Owen's, Tosh's... still have issues with figuring out where Gwen's/Suzie's desk goes, but I'm working on it. But the autopsy room (I've figured that out recently, but for a LONG TIME I couldn't work it out in my head), the interrogation room, the cells, the balcony... they all freak me out. I can never quite figure out where the stairs go or... yeah.
I may have been spoiled by Sorkin shows. Pedeconferences are the best thing ever for working out how things fit together.
EDIT III: HOLY FUCK THE DRUMS ARE IN "CYBERWOMAN" FOR NO APPARENT REASON. ...It's creepy. As fuck. That is all.
EDIT IV: I finished the first scene! And it took up... over half my word count. *Headdesk* THIS is why I wanted a fucking epic word count for this last challenge. Augh. Oh well. And I have... three hours and fifteen minutes. Unless my understanding of time zones is dead wrong, which is always a possibility.
EDIT V: Done. Dear God. And now I am all full of stress and spaz. But it's done and sent, and unless my understanding of time zones is really, really bad, it's a good 40 minutes ahead of the deadline. I'm going to take those 40 minutes to remember to breathe.
