assignment of value – I'm one of those who believes that most things of value only have value because we give it to them. Symbols, rituals, religions, they're all arbitrary in a certain slant of light, and to the uninitiated, they're all absurd. The fact that a cross or a star means so very much to certain people isn't anything inherent to the cross or star, but a value humans have tacked on.
Which is nice, because it means we can create our own things of value, our own rituals and religions, and they're no more arbitrary than other ones. If we want to hold something holy, we may, and it's just as valid.
everything explodes. everything! – This started when I was wondering what would happen, logically, if I totally wrote out one of the SG-1 characters from continuity starting at Season 5 and moving onward. And, through a series of "Only X would have noticed this" and "X was the only one who could have negotiated this" and "Y only came to ask for Z help because of X" and the like, and the SG-1 team's propensity to avert disaster (often giant explosions) by the skin of their teeth anyway, I discovered that what would logically happen was that, uh, everything would explode. Everything. Ships, planets, Orange County....
I think I eventually slotted it in as the summary for that fic, until I could think of a better one.
finding inappropriate things adorable – Because I do. These things include sad Goa'uld (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goa'uld) larva, MALP (http://scifipedia.scifi.com/index.php/Mobile_Analytic_Laboratory_Probe)s, Deathclaws (the Fallout enemy) (http://fallout.rpgplanet.gamespy.com/fallout2/enemies.html), floating exuberant brains with prehensile brainstems (http://magibrain.livejournal.com) and the Master.
just... no - My response to a lot of the stuff the magibrain throws at me. Sometimes, it's the only thing you can say.
mocking things i love – Ranging from snarky summaries to wacky parodies to just riffing on them mercilessly. You may have noticed that I mock the hell out of Jack ^^;. SG-1 also gets the treatment. ...I really should get back to starcaps sometime....
seriously creepy romance – Basically, "creepy" and "twisted" are the two ways I'll take my romance, or I'll wind up very bored indeed. I'll read things like Pyramid Head/James Sunderland, and I'll write things like Coil (http://draegonhawke.livejournal.com/412435.html) and Dis-ease (http://draegonhawke.livejournal.com/328273.html), and all of my normal romance happens offscreen and is just kinda taken for granted in the background noise. Hell, even Damaged People is full of kinda sketchy emotional codependence and manipulation. (Jack, I see you with the muscle relaxants. That's creepy.)
weird and twisted fanfiction – ...see above. I enjoy twisting things up and making people squirm. Darkside (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1705787/1/Darkside), my FF8 fic, was basically one extended mindfuck, the message of which was "Everything the game told you was morally incorrect." I started rewriting FF8 as Fight Club (http://draegonhawke.livejournal.com/tag/fanfic:+ff8). I do things like write Coil and And What Art (http://draegonhawke.livejournal.com/379871.html), for crissakes. ...I like bizarre premises and doing twisty things with them.
